18th Annual Martin Feldstein Lecture: Social Security Reform in an Era of Fiscal Deficits
On July 29, 2026, Stanford University and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) hosted the 18th Annual Martin Feldstein Lecture, “Social Security Reform in an Era of Fiscal Deficits,” presented by Mark Duggan, Professor at Stanford University and a Research Associate at NBER.
The lecture examines the challenges facing Social Security reform at a time of persistent federal fiscal deficits. Duggan discusses the program’s long-term financial outlook and considers potential approaches to strengthening Social Security while addressing broader fiscal constraints.
